NEWS: Mick wins again Sept at Tuneflow song writing tournament with his song "11.59"
This makes 5 wins in total at the premier monthly song-writing competition in less than a year.
Mick wins again! In Tunesflow's August competition with "moving on", which won outright as the best song of all four categories.
It was also announced that his song "Listen" was a semi-finalist in the UK song-writing competition which is in association with The Brit Trust, the British academy of composers and song writers, the BBC, World music foundation with 5000 entries.
He also got into the top 10 of the classic rock section of www.broadjam.com with his song "Everday dreamer"

Mick wins the tuneflow.com December song writing tournament with his song entry "Early morning blues", this song is about a true episode in his life relating the story of Dr Thomas Beeching's axe of the UK railway system back in the far distant 50s when Mick was just fifteen!
Mick also continues recording his album of new songs, as well as increasing his profile on the internet.

Mick is the MC for a concert featuring artistes
who have graced the small stage of the Bedford room
during the year. It is expected that the evening will conclude
with an appearance of the rising young talent Jenna Witts as well
as "Show of Hands" star Steve Knightley.

Mick was accompanied by "The back porch boys" with guest appearances from Steve Knightley and Phil Beer of the
famous "Show of Hands" plus former "Spinner" Mick Groves.
The year has also seen appearances at Village Hall and folk club venues in Devon.
Mick also made a cameo appearance at the hugely successful FOLKAID tsunami concert in Exeter with Show of Hands and
Ralph McTell. The concert raised £6000 for the charity, Mick is currently the president of FOLKAID.
Subsequent charity events in April 2005 at the Barnfield Theatre Exeter and Alphington included Mick with his new line up of
Jim Howden on lead guitar and Kathy Jenkins with vocal harmonies.
Mick also played harmonica on the new Mick Groves CD "Fellow Journeyman".
The current project is a CD of new songs. 10 new songs
are currently being worked on in the studio and once again being
produced by Phil Beer.
